Jar Loft setup and support
Start with the checks below. If you still need a hand, email support@jarloft.app.
Before you start
Can I download Jar Loft now?
Jar Loft is coming to the App Store. There is no download link yet.
Which devices and ages does it support?
Jar Loft supports iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 26.5 or later, for families with a child aged 6 to 12. Subjects depend on age and progress; chance and risk is for ages 10 to 12. There is one child profile per device.
Can I manage it from my phone?
Jar Loft manages the device it is installed on. Remote control from a parent's phone is not available.
Setup and the lock
Which setup should I use?
On your child’s own device, use their child Apple Account in Family Sharing. On a shared family iPad, set a Screen Time passcode that only the grown-up knows. Jar Loft needs iOS or iPadOS 26.5 or later. It manages the device it is installed on; remote control from a parent’s phone is not available.
A selected app is not locked. What should I check?
- Open Jar Loft so it can recheck Screen Time authorisation.
- Enter the parent area and check lock health. Restore permission if it was removed.
- Check your selected apps and family rules. Look for an active spend window, parent Pause or an app you allowed for school.
- On a shared iPad, check that the Screen Time passcode is set and kept private. Run the in-app lock test again.
If the check still fails, contact us with the lock-health message and your iOS or iPadOS version. Please leave out personal details.
Can videos keep playing after time ends?
Picture in Picture, videos in Messages and already-open browser tabs may continue after the lock returns. Close the video or browser tab if it keeps playing. Someone who knows the Screen Time passcode, resets the device or uses another device may get around the lock, so keep the passcode private.
After restarting or updating the device, open Jar Loft and check Lock health in the parent area. If an app stays open when it should be resting, check Screen Time permission and run the lock test again.
What does the parent Pause do?
Pause temporarily lifts the selected app locks for the time you choose, up to 24 hours. The web filter and device restrictions stay in place. Pause can extend past bedtime; earned spend windows still stop at bedtime.
Learning and the parent area
How do I report a problem with a question?
In the parent area, open Help and go to Report a problem. Say what went wrong in a sentence or two. You can also email us directly. Review the message before sending and leave out your child’s name, answers and other personal information.
I forgot the grown-up PIN. Can you recover it?
Use your saved recovery code at the grown-up gate to set a new PIN. We do not have your PIN or recovery code and cannot retrieve them. Do not send either one by email.
How do I reset everything?
In the parent area, open Settings and choose “Delete all data”. Read the confirmation before continuing: the local profile, learning progress and minutes will be removed. Cancel any subscription separately in Apple’s Settings.
Purchases
How do I restore or cancel a subscription?
Choose Restore on Jar Loft’s subscription screen using the Apple Account that made the purchase. To cancel, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Jar Loft. For a free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. See our subscription terms.
Why is my purchase pending?
Ask to Buy may need approval from the family organiser. Wait for Apple’s approval before trying again. An eligible trial starts after approval. The free plan remains available while you wait.
Still need help?
Tell us what you tried and what happened. We do not need your child’s personal information, PIN or recovery code.
